For those of you do not know already, we are moving to Singapore in two weeks! Its been an amazing five years in France, and we'll miss our friends dearly.
Urvi had decided to make personalised 'green' gifts for her 4 closest friends, Emma, Samyukta, Carmen and Bianca. All four are very smart, creative girls, so we decided to make 'creativity kits' for each of them.We made every item in the gift pack ourselves, almost right from scratch...except for the packet of seeds and the shoe-box of course.
Here is what each pack contained:
A personalised note book...
Bookmarks with cleaned and dried apple seeds
A story-book, where one can write one's own stories
A recipe book to note down one's favorite recipes
A 'friendship' book to keep track of birthdays, phone numbers etc
We cut out letterings from a christmas wrapping paper, which gave the books a neat 'professional' look. For the covers of all the notebooks, we used a thick art paper and colored them with poster paint.
These 'collection boxes' we made from regular cereal boxes. We flattened the cereal box, cut them out so that they were about 2.5 inches in depth, folded them inside out and painted them. Then we glued them on to a hard cardboard base. It could also be used as a piggy-bank.
These are empty yogurt cups that we covered with attractive wrapping paper and stuck to the base of the boxes. They can be used to store 'trucs de filles' (girl-stuff).
We also put a pack of seasonal flower seeds and paper mice containing 'bonbons'.
Finally we put all of that in colorfully decorated shoe boxes.
Each shoe-box had a picture of Urvi with her friend. We decorated the box with paint, images and even shiny 'trucs de filles' from discarded hairclips and and bangles.
Urvi and I had great fun planning and constructing the 'creativity kits'. We hope it will be a way for all of us to remember and treasure the wonderful times we have shared with our friends here.

I am amazed at the thought and love put into the gifts. Urvi (and you) are the best friends to have. I hope Urvi can stay in touch with the friends she is leaving behind. You know what they say about old being gold....
